We already know that Aldi’s shelves are stocked with all kinds of food finds that are worthy of awards. From hearty breakfast pizza to bottled French soda, the discount grocer is all about giving shoppers the best food products at the lowest costs. So we’re not at all surprised to find out that one of Aldi’s shopper favorites was awarded as a Product of the Year for 2024: Aldi’s Specially Selected Sliced Italian Loaf.
For context, Product of the Year is a worldwide consumer-voted award for production innovation and is voted on by over 40,000 consumers in the United States. The winners are announced by category, from popular foods to other notable products like bathroom essentials, medicine, pet goods, cooking and cleaning supplies, and other household needs like appliances.
Aldi’s Specially Selected Sliced Italian Loaf snagged the top spot in the bread category, and we see why: It’s a high-quality bread for such an affordable price. The Sliced Italian Loaf doesn’t include any preservatives or colors, and is non-GMO. It’s only made with three simple ingredients: flour, water, and salt. It’s a sourdough bread that has been naturally fermented, and already presliced so it’s easier to make sandwiches, or even freeze for later.
Frequent Aldi shoppers also agree that it’s the best bread. They’re constantly recommending it to other Aldi shoppers, and they even love the non-sliced variety saying it “tastes like mom’s homemade bread.” Even our writers love it just as much, saying it’s the Aldi find they’ll always keep stocked. While prices for this loaf may vary based on your location, typically you can find a bag of it for $3.99.
Along with winning best bread, Aldi also snagged four other wins in categories for Product of the Year. Simply Nature Spray Oil was labeled as the top for Cooking Essentials, Nature’s Nectar OJ Blends for the Juice category, and Priano Hearty Ravioli for Pasta. Even Belletti Prosecco was named the top wine by consumers, running at just under $10 a bottle. No wonder shoppers love it!
