Quick Hot Dog Chili

Hot Dog Chili is a simple and versatile recipe that combines ground beef, tomato sauce, and various seasonings.

Prep Time 20 minutes

Cook Time 15 minutes

Total Time 35 minutes

  • 1 pound lean ground beef 80/20
  • 1 medium sweet onion diced
  • 1 can tomato sauce (8 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ½ tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ cup beef stock or broth
  • In a 12″ skillet, brown ground beef and onions over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Drain any fat.

  • Stir in tomato sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, brown sugar, and beef stock or broth.

  • Simmer the chili for 15 minutes or until the stock has cooked down and the chili sauce reaches the desired consistency. Season with salt to taste.

  • Spoon the hot dog chili over cooked hot dogs and add toppings as desired.

  • Leftover Hot Dog Chili can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. 
  • You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes to suit your taste preferences.
  • For a thicker chili, simmer it for a bit longer until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Feel free to customize your hot dogs by adding your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, diced onions, or pickles.
